Subconscious Reprogramming Begins with Awareness of a Pattern of Negative Self Talk

Scientists have isolated neuro transmitters in the brain which are the chemical messengers of thought in our bodies. These chemical thought agents are present in all of our organs.  Your mind and your body is in a constant running dialog with one another. Have you ever stopped to wonder where those messages are coming from or what is being said?

Most people who are emotional eaters walk around with a headful of negative self talk that presupposes foods are either 'good' or 'bad', 'healthy' or 'unhealthy', and that if you eat 'good' foods, you are being 'good', and if you eat, 'bad' foods you lack discipline. Extremist thinking like this is the norm for the emotional eater. There is so much judgment, fear, negative and disempowering beliefs connected with food and the act of eating. We feel ashamed of wanting, guilty for overeating and fearful of losing control. Food has become fraught with huge emotional burdens.

Negative Self Talk: Whose Voice Reminds You of Your Inner Critic?

For the past several weeks I've been actively working to build my business by reading and applying the information in Jack Canfield's book, The Success Principles: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. The impetus for this decision came as a result of realizing that I have been living for far too long in a serious scarcity mentality. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I first recognized this truth. I had always attributed scarcity with not having money. Since I was raised in a well to do home and have had no real issues with money for most of my life, I thought that I was insulated from that thinking. I realized that was not the case and recognize that my beliefs around money and value has been a big reason why I have eaten out of frustration for many years.

Like many women, I grew up with a very strong, powerfully dominant father presence in my life. My dad raised me with very clear cut ideas about what women could and could not do in business and in life in general. Like many people, he said one thing and did another, leaving me to wonder what was really true. As a child, I considered him my hero, and believed everything he said without question. He told me that I could achieve anything that I wanted and to reach for my goals. Yet when I had the unique occasion to run a business with him, I learned firsthand what he valued most of all, money. If it couldn't be measured in dollars and cents, he didn't see the value in it. We got into constant arguments over this, and the stress of it caused a lot of distance and pain.

Now looking back I realize that it's not personal. Dad's just Dad, and I'm just me. We're two people who are just different. Here's the important take away for you:

The Juicy Woman Maxi Motivation Boosting Game

Motivation! Arggh. The word alone brings up a sigh of exhaustion for me and for so many other women who have learned to associate motivation with pushing hard, moving out of our comfort zone and some form of pain or another. One of the gals in my forum asked me to come up with something that would help boost her motivation to be more active. Lately this has been something that I've been wanting for myself so I decided to be my own guinea pig. This really worked for me. Tomorrow I'll tell you the story of how I discovered this method to self motivate.

If you’re a gal who likes to engage in a bit of competition with yourself. Here’s a fun motivation boosting game that I created by accident a few weeks ago. I used walking as an example but you can apply this to any activity. I encourage you to give it a try. If you like to measure your progress, you can get a pedometer at any Sporting Goods store and wear it so so that you can count how many steps you take either on your walk or throughout the day. I love to walk while listening to either music or learning CDs. You’ll know what’s best for you.

    Maxi Motivation Booster

    1.    Decide on a minimal distance of walking that you want to do. ie, 2 blocks
    2.    Stop just short of your chosen goal
    3.    Now turn back, without looking back and return to your starting place
    4.    No more walking for you today

The next time you want to go walking, decide again on a minimum distance you want to cover and then repeat the same steps as above.

Let me know what happens. How does this makes you feel? Please share a comment and tell me how this has affected your level of motivation. I’m looking forward to reading your stories.

America's Next Top Model Crowns Whitney Thompson, Its First Full Figured Model

The face of beauty in America is getting a much needed, long overdue makeover. Last Thursday night, May 15, Tyra Banks’ reality show, “America’s Next Top Model (ANTM), crowned its first full figured winner, Whitney Thompson. Congratulations Whitney on a job well done. You’re sending an important message to little girls who are starving themselves trying to look like models.

Whitney is a 20 year old student from Atlantic Beach Florida who is bent on sending a message to the media that you don’t have to be a stick figure to be considered beautiful. At 5’10”and a size 10 figure, she’s admittedly smaller than the size 14 of the average American woman, but in terms of the modeling and fashion industry, she is considered plus sized and fat compared to the average model size 2-4. "People always say you have to be stick-skinny, emaciated and unhealthy and I've kind of stood up for being full-figured my whole life," Thompson told The Post in her first post-victory interview.
