Scientists have isolated neuro transmitters in the brain which are the chemical messengers of thought in our bodies. These chemical thought agents are present in all of our organs. Your mind and your body is in a constant running dialog with one another. Have you ever stopped to wonder where those messages are coming from or what is being said?
Most people who are emotional eaters walk around with a headful of negative self talk that presupposes foods are either 'good' or 'bad', 'healthy' or 'unhealthy', and that if you eat 'good' foods, you are being 'good', and if you eat, 'bad' foods you lack discipline. Extremist thinking like this is the norm for the emotional eater. There is so much judgment, fear, negative and disempowering beliefs connected with food and the act of eating. We feel ashamed of wanting, guilty for overeating and fearful of losing control. Food has become fraught with huge emotional burdens.

When I first decided that I would become an Intuitive Eater, I was
thrilled beyond words at the prospect of being able to eat whatever I
wanted, whenever I wanted it.
With the only guideline being to wait until I got hungry, I had carte blanche to eat all the time, or so I thought.
As a Certified Energy Coach, I had a whole bag of tricks that I had
used in the past and taught other women to use successfully to
eliminate cravings, but I decided to set that aside to test out this
amazing process. So there I was, just a gal, face to face alone with
food for what seemed like the first time. The difference was that I was
actually giving myself permission to eat whatever I wanted to whenever
I was hungry and naturally I would stop when I was full, LOL!

All around us we are surrounded by manifestations of life and energy.
Typically when you think of universal power or energy, words like
electricity, magnetism, gasoline or batteries come to mind. However
this is not the source of energy that we work with when we use
Emotional Freedom Technique or any of the other forms of energy
coaching.
The energy that is involved when we speak of energy coaching is sourced
back to the origin of what powers the sun, batteries, electrical
impulses, fossil fuels, our body, plants or animals. Since the
beginning of time, everything animate and inanimate once broken down to
its simplest form, is made up of the same energy. This energy is called
Atomic energy. Consider that we are all living in a great sea of
energy, connected to one another by a common thread.

This past week I left town with my family to visit my step daughter,
Janelle. She is in the Air Force and she was recently promoted to the rank of
Tech Sargeant. I'm so tickled with pride.
My husband, Angel, our son, PT and our daughter Cara and Janelle's mom,
my friend, Lucy were all on hand and present to support and cheer
Janelle on for her enormous accomplishment.
The ceremony took place in a large auditorium on base. First we heard a
few speeches and then the proceedings began. As each of the candidates'
names were called, they stepped on the stage and stood between two of
their superior officers. If their family members were present, they
were asked to stand on either side of the candidate.

After I finished reading Tammy Bechtel's book, "Mind-Body Connection:
The Art of Language for Weight Loss, I became more aware of what was
going on in my own head relative to my body.
I realized that I had shied away from activity since I sprained my
ankle and pulled a muscle last year. I had to admit to myself that I had utterly convinced my brain that I couldn't be active again. That stinking thinking had led me to
become very sedentary and dare I say, lazy.
As a consequence of being less active, I had put on extra weight and
had begun to accept this new body shape of mine which led to my devloping a bit
of a belly which was once foreign and unheard of for me. I used to
think that having an accentuated pear shape was the worst of my
body image problems. Then I started believing that I had a huge potbelly and holding that thinking and visual imagery has seemed to me to be the fuel that has
caused it to expand more with each passing day.

Recently I finished reading a brilliant book by a woman named Tammy
Bechtel. The title of the book is Mind-Body Connection: The Art of Language for Weight Loss.
In addition to being an author, Tammy is an expert communicator connecting the mind to the
body as it relates to who you are being about weight loss. She also does one on one consultations and presentations.
In her book, "Mind-Body Connection: The Art of Language for Weight Loss", Tammy mentions many ways that our language inhibits our
ability to lose weight. She believes that if we are always thinking
fat, then we will never be thin. She says that we create our own
realities in our minds about how we are being and consequently what we
do depends upon what we think about ourselves and that affects how we
relate to the world.

Yesterday at 6:30 p.m., after graduating from my Second Master
Practitioner Program Level Series in NLP, I was in the Manhattan Port
of Authority getting ready to board my bus for the long trip home.
Overcome by pangs of hunger, I jumped into Au Bon Pain and purchased a
small portion of Southwestern Vegetable Soup and ate 1/2 a whole grain
breadstick with some Smart Beat butter spread on it.

A couple of weeks ago I wanted to do some shopping. I knew that it was
time to prepare for summer and toss out some of my sweats and baggy tees that I
tend to favor. What can I say I love to be comfortable, especially if
I’m just staying home. I’ve even been known to coach in my jammies. I guess that's an occupational hazard. Oh well, who cares? I like it that way.
Knowing that I had a few more formal engagements to attend, including
my step daughter, Janelle's promotion to Sargeant in the Air Force at the end of April, and an upcoming family vacation to Puerto Rico in June; I had to get some
clothes that would be befitting of Andrea, The Juicy Woman. I guess my old Elton
John tee shirt with the air conditioning wouldn’t cut it.

When an actor prepares for a role or a speaker gets ready for a presentation,
they spend time rehearsing and practicing before the actual event. You
can use this same method to create your average day.
To pre-pave your day, try this simple exercise:
When you wake up in the morning, spend a few minutes sitting quietly
with your eyes closed, visualize how you want the day to go. See
yourself smiling as you float throughout your day, meeting and greeting
people, learning new things and feeling good about yourself as you step
along in your day. Get as specific as you like. You may want to see
yourself eating the foods you love with a different appreciation,
savoring each bite and eating smaller portions without trying.

Connirae Andreas is the creator of the "Naturally Slender Eating Strategy." She is also one of the original co-developers in the field of Neuro Linguistic Programming. As a therapist, she has helped thousands of people to overcome fears, phobias and various other experiences in their lives that have blocked their lives. To get more information and read the strategy in its entirety, read the book that she co-authored with her husband, Steve Andreas, called, “Heart of the Mind."
This post and several others like it will take excerpts from the interview that I enjoyed with Connirae last week. This post will describe the importance of choosing foods that 'kiss your being.' I encourage you to visualize your food choice as the loving mother depicted in the photo and you as the infant child seeking nourishment.
